Good quality case, but a little too big for the Western Digital Passport drives, February 15, 2007
I got this case in the blue color with a contrasting bright yellow interior. The material is all-around high-quality, and the case offers excellent protection for my external hard drive(s).

Since this is a universal drive case it cannot be a perfect fit for every portable hard drive out there. I own several different-size drives and here is how they fit:

- First generation WD Passport (silver colored, blueish rubberized bottom, Western Digital 80 GB Passport 2.5-inch External Hard Drive) fits perfectly. I suspect that this case was originally made for these drives.

- Newer WD Passport (various colors, non-rubberized bottom, WD Passport Portable WDXMSB1600 - Hard drive - 160 GB - external - 2.5" - Hi-Speed USB - 5400 rpm - buffer: 2 MB - metallic red): The case is too long and too wide, but because of the elasticized strap the drive still fits ok provided you don't stretch the strap by putting in thicker items before using it with this type of drive.

- Seagate FreeAgent Go (Seagate FreeAgent Go 160 GB USB External Hard Drive ST901603FGA1E1-RK: The drive is a tiny bit wide. On the other hand, because it is such a snug fit width-wise, the drive also doesn't slide around in the case. And the case still can be zipped shut with this drive.

If one doesn't have cables etc. to store in the accessory pocket in the other half of the case, this pocket can double as storage space for another drive, the case still zips shut, even with two of the largest of the above-mentioned drives in it.

I recommend this case to anyone looking for high-quality protection for portable hard drives and other electronics, such as PDAs or MP3 players.

The case is well designed and made. The outer material feels durable, the inner shell soft and well padded. The overall case is well formed and seams look carefully done.

I bought this to be used with the Western Digital Passport II (black) WDXMSxxxx drives (5.1"x3.1"x0.6") and the case is a tad too big for it. The drive has a little too much wiggle room despite the elastic strap inside. I imagine the case will be better fitted for slightly bigger drives, e.g. Seagate's ST9xxxxx1U2-RK.

Case Logic Portable Hard Drive Case does it's job, January 12, 2008
Small External HD Case Black I bought this case to protect my Western Digital 250 GB portable USB hard drive, as I move the drive around a lot between home and work. I'm using the hard drive to back up my iTunes music collection, so I want to take care of it, hence I purchased this Case Logic case. The case is easy to use. When you open it up, you'll find two compartments (one on each side). One has an elastic strap that snuggly holds your hard drive in position. The other compartment has a mesh flap which acts like a pocket, so you can have a space to put a USB cable and maybe a flash drive or two in a pinch. As the case is small, it isn't really designed such that you can leave the hard drive in the case during operation. There isn't enough room for the connector to fit when it is placed in the drive, without the cable putting undue stress on the connector (not a good idea - duh!). In any event, the hard drive produces some heat during operation, so you probably wouldn't want to leave it in the case anyway. My only two complaints or observations are that a real hand strap could have been provided instead of the rubber thingy for carrying the drive more safely to and from a car, and that there isn't really a lot of padding in the sides of the case. I still wouldn't want to drop the hard drive while in the case onto concrete. Maybe from 3 feet onto carpet would be survivable. I guess I expected it to be lined with some styrofoam (I won't tell Al Gore) to provide more protection. Still, it does provide a nice place to keep your hard drive and cable together, without them getting all scratched up.

I purchased this case for my Lacie Rugged Hard Drive LaCie 500 GB 7200 rpm Rugged All-Terrain FireWire 800/ FireWire 400/USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive 301900 and it's great! It fits the drive perfectly and protects it well. I shoot video and often edit on location, so I end up dragging my drive through the worst of conditions, but it's survived like a champ and this case has definitely helped.

Perfect for Seagate Portable Drives, March 25, 2007
The case is made of a soft, yet rigid, material which fits the Seagate ST9160821U2-RK External 160GB Hard Drive like a glove. The elastic band helps hold the drive in place while the case is being opened and closed. There is a net inside for holding the USB cable as well. The zipper opens and closes nicely allowing the entire case to open and lie flat. So far, I've purchased three drives and cases for storing digital photographs and have been pleased with both products.

This is my second Case-Logic case for a portable hard drive, (original case is 1-1/2 years old and shows no wear). This PHDC-1 case fits the Seagate 1TB Go Portable drive like a glove. The sizes are misleading on the various sites. The PHDC-1 inside dims are: 3.5 wide X 5.25 long X 1.5 thick. Like another reviewed stated, it's a bit snug on the width, but no worries.

Works great for the Garmin Nuvi 750 (and others I'm sure), June 9, 2008
I bought one of these for my Garmin Nuvi 750 ... works PERFECT! Keeps the Nuvi protected (screen facing out, away from the accessories) and holds the car charger cable and the Nuvi cradle in the other half of the case. (You do need to sort of position the Nuvi toward the top or bottom and then the charger and the "lip" of the cradle to the opposite side to "nest" it all, but it works fine.) All you need is to bring whichever mount you use (I travel with the "beanbag" dash mount). Packs easily in a briefcase or suitcase. A friend of mine has the 650, and although it and its components are bulkier than the 750, it still works (just not as "perfect" as the 750).

I got this for the Seagate 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive ST905004EXA101-RK (Black). It fits snugly and has enough room for the USB cable & probably couple of more cables/accessories. This is a great product not only for someone who is looking to carry the portable HDD but also to keep it in a protective place at home and don't have to fear about the HDD collecting dust or any other accidental breakage. I highly recommend this product !

I recently needed to buy a USB cable for my new printer and I found out that there are many USB cables at very different prices.
So, doing a search I found the "Belkin 10FT USBA/USBB Device Cable" but I was not sure if it would work for a printer. Since it was the less expensive I decided to give it a try.

I'm happy because the cable works great with my USB printer and I found out that the cable actually exceeds the features displayed on amazon site.

The cable manufacturer part number is F3U133-10.

When I purchased this product I thought I was getting a USB version 1 cable. It turned out to be 2.0. Fortunately the package said it was backward compatible and it was.

The book that came with my printer stated I needed a USB cable with a length of no greater than 6 foot, shielded, etc. They should tell you this before you get the printer. Fortunately, the 10 foot cable connected and worked flawlessly. I always try to buy Belkin since they generally have top quality products and good support.

At $3.99, this is a good price for a name brand USB cable, but only because they tend to dramatically overcharge on their prices. There are no differences with USB cables other than length and the shape of the connectors placed on each end. There are plenty of online retailers that sell USB cables for less than $1.00 and they will work just as fine as any high priced one you may see at BestBuy, CircuitCity, Staples, OfficeMax, Radio Shack, etc. Many of the high priced cables will include gold plated connectors which is just a gimmick, they provide no better connection that those without it. Also USB cables do not have speeds associated with them they way computers and laptops do. There is no such thing as a USB 1.1 or 2.0 cable so if you have an older USB cable when USB 1.1 was the only thing out, it will work perfectly with the newer USB 2.0 technology. They are made exactly the same, you're told you need a newer "high speed" hoping that you'll throw away you perfectly capable current cable and buy the new $40 gold-plated zero-loss oxygen-free cable when you really don't need it. As I said at earlier, $3.99 is a good price for this set, but you can find better if you shop around. If Amazon is the only site you trust buying from, definitely get these.

I prefer carrying the iPad in this than not, but you do lose some of the fun of spinning the iPad around, the cover forces you to interact with the iPad a certain way, more "book-like" than I think it should feel.

That is what putting a cover on it will do will do.

It is a quality product. Just not perfect.

The official Apple iPad Case is beautifully constructed. It is made of a very soft material but still sturdy. The iPad sits securely and tightly in place. The cover bends back easily and you can even prop it up at an angle just by inserting the cover into a flap on the back. The holes for the power, dock port, volume and headphones are perfect - no overlapping. I don't have to worry about scratching the front or back of my iPad when carrying or laying it around. I only wished that it had a clear plastic insert attached inside to cover the face of the iPad for added protection from scratches and fingerprints when the iPad is in use. The case is also easy to clean. I used a wet cloth to wipe away some food I accidentally sat the case on and it came out looking new again.

One bit of advance. Apple recommends to occasionally remove the iPad from any kind of case when charging. The case may overheat the iPad and cause a shorter battery life.

At the time of this review, a third party seller is selling it way above the suggested retail price. I purchased it directly from Apple for under $40. There is no shortage supply so there is no reason to be selling it at such an inflated price ($94).

UPDATE 08/17/2010: I see the 3rd party seller is now offering your order to be fulfilled by Amazon (w/Prime shipping) at a more reasonable price, but it still does not beat the price of getting it directly from Apple.

Nice case but rough on skin, April 29, 2010
It's a nice case and allows for the iPad to be propped up at different angles on flat surface for viewing (touching the screen without holding it at upright angles will knock it over unless you're very gentle). The case is very sleek looking and stylish, but the rubber it's made out of is very rough on your skin. The edges are especially rough and will eventually make it uncomfortable to hold since it will start to wear away and cut into your skin. After a few days of using it, I couldn't stand to keep my iPad in it permanently anymore and will only be using it for when I take the iPad out of the house for protection.

Use you iPad lying in bed? Don't get this case., August 16, 2010
The edges of the stiff material used to make this case end up being sharp edges. If you like to lie in bed with your head on the pillow using your iPad, you will end up holding the iPad in one hand and hand peck typing with the other. That's when the fingers holding the iPad will feel the case cutting into your fingers. It won't draw blood, the material is not that thin or that sharp. But it will hurt and make you wish you had found a different product. Nor does the "built-in" stand work well. The bottom of the stand is not really flat, so it rocks like a rocking chair. It's top-heavy so will tip over with a slight touch. I love Apple but this is a "case" of form over function.

Because I read several negative reviews about this case, I had not planned to buy one. However, when I got my iPad from ebay it came with the Apple ipad case. Since I was expecting to not like it, I ordered a different case from another company. It turns out that I love the Apple ipad case (& didn't like the other one). What I like most about this case is how thin it is-- you could slip this inside your purse or totebag & it wouldn't be too bulky. I like the way its designed, particularly the way you can stand it up in various ways. All of the buttons & ports are still easily accessible when the iPad is in the case. The ipad slips in easily, but doesn't slip out as easily. You have to pull on it a bit. Its not a case you'd want if you plan to mostly use the iPad without a case, and just need a case for protection while transporting it. If you're going to keep the iPad in a case most of the time, while you use it, this is probably the best for that.

The price listed here of $50.84 is ridiculous since the Apple store sells it for less, but I felt like a review here should be about the product.

Sharp plastic edge all around the outside makes it uncomfortable to hold for very long. It also prevents easy access to the volume and rotation lock buttons. The cutout for the cable is too small to accommodate a dock. I'll definitely be returning this.

A case of pain, July 27, 2010
I give this product 2 stars because it is thin and works well as a stand. The problem is the sharp weld that goes around the entire edge which digs into one's hands. There is simply no comfortable way to hold an iPad in this case. I can still feel the indentation in my hand from holding it 15 minutes ago. The other problem is that it takes a major effort to remove the iPad from the case which eliminates the possibility switching between use with and without the case. Apple should never have approved this atrocity.

I used this case for about two months before ultimately ditching it for a much nicer leather case from Piel Frama. While Apple should be commended for designing a case that is quite functional and, by all appearances, extremely durable, their choice of material was not particularly well thought out. Even in an fairly clean office environment, this case is a dust magnet. During the two months I used it, I was constantly brushing off dust smudges and wiping it down. After awhile, it became so annoying that I simply decided to buy another case.

Overrated, June 8, 2010
After all of the hype about this case and it always being out of stock, I finally lucked out and got one of two left from one of the Apple stores here in Denver.

If there had not been so much hype, I may have liked this more, but overall, I was not impressed with this case.

The case is flimsy and gets dirty and scuffed up really quickly. The microfiber seems to attract and hold dirt and scuff marks.

If you plan on removing your iPad from the case, which I prefer to do at times, you'll have to give it a good fight to remove it from within the case. It's incredibly difficult to do. The iPad is so beautiful and artistically crafted, I don't want to always have it all covered up inside the case, so this became a huge problem.

Also, supposedly this case allows you to stand the iPad up in the optional charging cradle/dock that you can buy for the iPad, but the iPad needed about another 1/4 inch to be able to recognize that it was docked. So I was never able to get it to dock with the optional cradle while in this case - despite what they may claim at the Apple store.

What I DID like about this was that it could stand up in landscape mode in two different positions and angles while in the case, which was nice. Standing up vertically was a bit wobbly and I didn't feel comfortable leaving it that way. I'm not sure it was advertised to do this, so I didn't ding the review rating for that.

My goal now is to find something more durable and protecting of the iPad, which will hold the iPad at different viewing angles, and most importantly, will allow quick removal of the iPad when I want to enjoy it in all it's glory. :)

This is by far the best case available for the iPad yet. I've read some of the complaints. I've had no trouble keeping my case clean and I don't find the edges sharp at all. It's the only pad that I tried that does not add a huge amount of extra bulk or weight to it. It's sleek, form fitting, and protects the screen when I'm carrying it around. This case holds the iPad very snug. Is it perfect? No. But for now it's the best one on the market & I'm glad I was finally able to grab one. ... Read more
